Another year of my life has come to a close, with another one beginning. As of 12:45 P.M., I’ll be 33, and I feel good about that. I also feel good as I reflect back upon the previous year-for what I’ve accomplished and what progress I’ve made towards goals.

  •  I started out the year as a volunteer for my association, simply designing and writing the newsletter. Now I’m a board member. I didn’t plan on becoming a member because of all the conflict I saw at meetings-and behind the scenes-but now I’m glad I did.  I also have really good neighbors. (:
  • I learned how to unstick my garbage disposal. And to think that people actually call the plumber for this!
  • I got two tickets. Good grief…. Warning to those who live near the Laguna Hills Mall. The cops do patrol there…
  • I learned that people besides work acquaintances and family like my cards-and are willing to pay for them!! Meaning, I enrolled in more than one  craft show.
  • I went to two weddings. One for my neighbor and the other, my cousin.
  • I’ve started to budget. It’s amazing how much you spend once you write it down!
  • I started this blog… (:
  • I went to my great-aunt’s 90th birthday party and connected with a family member who makes gorgeous cards herself.
  • I’ve learned that cleaning never ends. (:
  • I stepped out of my shell and helped serve the homeless at a friend’s church.
  • I’ve learned that photography is fun when you get out there and experience life to capture those memories.
  • I’ve learned that sometimes we just need to move on and be done with things.
  • I’ve learned that things aren’t always as neatly packaged as they may seem.
  • And that’s okay….

I have lots of plans for myself this year. One of my first ones should be to get myself a digital camera!!

gotta love those guy friends! (:

Ahhh do you hear it???? Do you hear that sound??? Its another year going down the toilet bowl of life. HAPPY B-Day toooooooo yooooooouuuuuuuuuu! Just think you are older than me!!!! (And another comment I edited out because it had a swear word in it…)

Aaah yes, my friend Steve left me that comment last night. I have known Steve for 16 years now, and he truly is a good friend-who seems to think that I’m one of the guys… And I know what he’s really saying to me.

Ahhh do you hear it???? Do you hear that sound??? Its another year of bountiful blessings coming your way! HAPPY B-Day to yooooooouuuuuuuuuu! Just think you are older than me by one measly year and one week! But so much wiser! (Edited by yours truly…)

Steve is one of those guys who you need to talk to when a reality check is in order for certain things in your life. He’s also the one who will let me cry on his shoulder when something worries me. He can make me laugh when I need it just by being silly. He’s just one of those people who is just so special in your life that you don’t know what you’d do without them.

And he’ll also allow me to crash in his place when I visit whatever state he’s living in. Right Steven??? (:

(I know that you are all probably wondering why I don’t have a pic of him. I seriously can not find one. )

It’s all about ME

24 10 2007

Annie tagged me, so I must comply with seven random things about me. I know you are all anxious to feast your eyes on the delectable items otherwise known as me. (:

  1. It’s 2007 and I don’t own a digital camera. (SHOCK!!!) I love me some digital when I take them on other people’s cameras. I don’t know what’s holding me back. I was using my dad’s 1.3 megapixel (HAH! What’s mega about 1.3 pixels?) digital camera for awhile, but when the batteries ran low and noticed that charging that thing is impossible, I put it somewhere in my parents’ house-probably never to be found again…
  2. I used to have an incredible fear of dogs. Now I love them. (:
  3. I got two traffic tickets in a year. How much fun am I having??
  4. I got in my first traffic accident at the ripe old age of 14. I was driving….
  5. My first job was stacking textbooks at my college’s bookstore. I was a ripe old 19 when I got my first job.
  6. This is a little TMI, but I’ll say it anyway…I once stripped in a former boyfriend’s condo pool area, and when we were about ready to do the wild thang in the pool, we got kicked out. I can only imagine the show I gave the neighbors!!! (Who by the way had a really good view in the pool…..) I’m glad that I’m more prudent in my later years!
  7. I think Swiffers are the best invention since mankind began.

I don’t know who else I could tag, so therefore, I tag anyone and everyone who reads this blog. Tell me all about you-in seven items or less. (:

Aaah…Fun stuff this living in Southern California right now!

23 10 2007

I found out about the fires Sunday morning when helping to repaint the laundry room at my condo. One of the fellow board members had to go back to her condo for a few minutes, and when she came back, she told us that Malibu was on fire.

I hate to say it, but we all gave the obligatory “ohmigosh!” and went back to what we were doing and discussing how we can make the laundry room look nicer. It didn’t hit us yet. That is, until we smelled the ash for ourselves.

It seems like Southern California went BANG, and erupted into one giant flame. Driving to work yesterday morning was no fun at all. What normally is a 20 minute commute became 45 minutes because it seems like a good portion of Irvine is on fire also. As one of my co-workers put it, the sky looked “apocalyptic”………. The air smelled like tobacco also. Yikes……….. It looks better today though.

My sister lives in the San Diego area and joked that she’s fine where she is, in the “concrete jungle” but is having allergy attacks like crazy because of all the smoke.

This gets me thinking about if I were to ever have to evacuate my home. What would I take with me? Flylady had a good list that I’ll have to go through and start putting together. I guess I can never be too prepared.

Back to the class reading again!

I don’t care about no stinkin’ breach of contract!!

19 10 2007

Well, at least not at the moment…

My brain is telling me to stop doing my notes for that section of class and do something to take my mind off of the doctrine of commercial impracticability and all that fun stuff. Instead, I want to focus on this.

It’s the weekend. Woo Hoo! It’s the weekend. Woo Hoo!

And also…. I found a dollar lying in the street!! Come on money! Keep on showing up when I least expect it! (:

Of course, it’s going to be so incredibly exciting, I mean, with getting my car’s service done, packaging all my gift tags for impending card shows, and the like. What’s a girl to do??! (:

Then there’s also the cool stuff, like having dinner with a friend tomorrow night.

And of course, my 33rd birthday is coming up. It’s amazing that I don’t gag now every time I say my age. I did that at 30, so I guess once that birthday passed, the shock wore off and now it just doesn’t matter. (-; I just want to do something fun that day, even though it’s a Monday and I need to go to work.

I still haven’t figured out what I’m going to be for Halloween. My work loves to be silly and hold a potluck and we all dress up in the weirdest costumes. It’s fun, yet weird also to see my sixty-something year old boss dressed in a Robin Hood costume. (-:

Okay, back at it! Now onto Compensatory Damages.
