card ideas galore

30 04 2007

One would think that with all the idea books I have that making a card would not be a problem for me, that ideas would just FLOOOOOOOOW naturally. One would also probably think that after seeing my cards on this blog. Well, got news for ya.

No, I need as much help as I can get with ideas.

Hi, I’m Kim and I’m an idea book junkie. (-:

I need to make some condolence cards this evening, so I was looking through the card books from Scrapbook Trends.

(Dang! When I copy and paste, I copy and paste with gusto! (-; )

Great, great, great ideas! (I had the January/February 2006 issue.) Too bad the magazine is smart and doesn’t give card examples on their Web site that I can copy and paste here!

Did I see any condolence card ideas? No. Can I use the ideas and just get creative? Absolutely.

Either that, or I’m buying another idea book. (:

Setting the goal, now I’m gonna get there

29 04 2007

I have one goal for the coming months weight loss wise, and now I’m working on getting to it.

Okay, this is a tad bit embarrassing to admit, but my goal right now for weight loss is to be able to fit in the plane seat better when I fly up in September for my cousin’s wedding. I have five months to prepare for this, and need some guidance to get there.

So, after my exercise time today, I plunked down money for training sessions. Five right now, but at least it’ll get me started on the right track.

(Plus, I’d like to feel good about myself when I see my skinny cousin get married. I want to have the thought in the back of my mind that I am looking good too!)

random rant of the week, #2-IS CALIFORNIA REALLY THIS NUTS?!

28 04 2007

This just pissed me off so much that I had to talk about it.

While doing my exercising today, which was walking in the park across the street from me while taking pictures, I noticed that a mom and her two kids were feeding the ducks bread. Perfectly normal scene. A park ranger noticed this though (It’s a 124-acre park, so I’m sure the state must control it) and got out of the car and told the mom to stop feeding the ducks, because it was like feeding them candy. (Huh???) So, she stopped. Then, one of the kids, who looked like she was about two-years-old, started chasing a duck. The ranger told her to stop doing that because the duck thought she was a monster! (???) The mother lost it at that point and told the ranger to stop disciplining her child.

Let me ask all of you out there in blogland this question. Is there really a law or a statute in California protecting ducks from being fed or chased by little kids?! I’m curious to know.

Attention Media! Stop talking about Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger!

 Their daughter might appreciate it!

The MySpace generation

26 04 2007

I always swore up and down that I would NEVER like MySpace. NEVER.

Two friends have gotten MySpace pages. With the first friend’s discovery of the addiction of MySpace, I just thought, “Oh Lord, more online time for her.” My interest piqued slightly with the second friend.

So, when she sent an invite to her page, I looked.

And I lost track of time searching for people. I probably stayed online a good hour and-a-half looking up people! I found so many long lost people that I couldn’t believe it!

The MySpace generation, Business Week states in a December 2005 article aptly titled, “The MySpace generation,” is generally people that fall within the ages of 14 to 34 (I’m 32, hence why I have friends with MySpace pages.). This  same group of people use MySpace so often that it is ranked in the United States as one of the top twenty hits for all internet pages. A couple hoping to adopt a baby recently made headlines for putting up a MySpace page to hopefully reach a pregnant teenage girl.

Scary? Maybe. Just the way things are heading? Maybe that too.

Will I get involved with MySpace?

Hopefully I’ll get a life outside of the computer first!
